"Blindly Bound " tells the story of how Domestic Abuse and Alcoholism affects people throughout their lives and is a vicious continuous cycle that needs to be broken. We follow the intertwining lives of Elsie, Santos, Daniel, Rebecca, Rose, Karina, Marlene, Jose, and Lilly and see how they have each been affected.
Elsie and Santos come from a culture in which domestic abuse is an all too often old school practiced form of a man exerting his power over a woman and a woman who is too scared to leave.
Marlene and Jose are parents to a fifteen year old named Lilly. They were a loving happy family until Jose loses his job due to layoffs and gets depressed, then resorts to alcohol as a means of escape from his daily disappointment of no one hiring him. He becomes an abusive husband and father forcing Marlene to decide whether she will remain in a marriage that is crumbling apart or save herself and her daughter so that they can have a better future.
Daniel has a troubled past and doesn’t like it when his underage girlfriend, Rebecca, gets drunk on weekend binges with her friends. Daniel has pleaded with Rebecca to stop, however, Rebecca being young and rebellious believes he will stick around regardless. He also still has a friendship with his ex-girlfriend Rose whom he was in a relationship with for three years. He is very attached to Rose's six year old daughter Karina. Although he wasn't ready to settle down with Rose he leans on her for guidance and seems to be confused about his emotions concerning her.
Rose has a six year old daughter, Karina, is Marlene’s sister and Daniel’s ex-girlfriend. Rose still cares about Daniel and is his shoulder to lean on and although Daniel is not Karina’s father he was in her life for three years. Karina grew attached to Daniel and misses him not being around as much. Rose has a choice to make when it comes to her relationship with Daniel.
At Karina’s seventh birthday party there is an incident that changes everything. Will the vicious cycle of abuse continue or will the next generation finally put a stop to it and no longer be Blindly Bound?
